ford

Ford are one the biggest manufacturers in Europe, thanks in part to their ownership of Land Rover, Jaguar and Volvo. Like VW their line-up includes a full range of cars and provides a similar snapshot of the car market. Ford market some of their cars under a green badge that is called 'Econetic' which is applied to cars with a combination of diesel engines and technical enhancements like low friction oil and low resistance tyres.

With Volvo Ford are making a big bet on bio-fuels. Unfortunately the amount of sustainably produced biofuels that will make a real contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions is limited and car companies should not bet on biofuels but on improving their fuel efficiency irrespective of the fuel used.
