| Detailed scoring of IT companies' climate advocacy |

| Greenpeace's Cool IT leaderboard assesses and scores IT
companies on their advocacy on climate change issues. To be scored, companies must show examples
of speech, lobby, or other advocacy that directly results in absolute
greenhouse gas emission reductions.
All advocacy is not created equally, and the content, audience and
company messenger all influence the advocacy score. Greenpeace strives to reward excellence so
a maximum of 10 points are awarded for a company's highest scoring speech --
rather than averaging a number of scored speeches, and similarly up to 15
points for the highest scoring other form of advocacy. However, repeating climate change advocacy
is also quite important, and we award a repetition bonus of up to 10 points
to companies based on the quantity of their positive climate advocacy. Future
leaderboard updates will also include and assess detrimental lobby and
advocacy from IT companies on climate change issues. |
