Over the last few months more than 125,000 of you wrote to European Commission President José Manuel Barroso, asking for a strong timber law to put an end to deforestation and illegal logging. Thank you to everyone that took action!

Summer of Love

Number of e-letters sent so far

Over the summer we had a fantastic response to our Forest Love campaign - more than 125,000 supporters wrote letters and almost half a million of you have viewed the original Forest Love video.

We asked President Barroso to meet with us in person to discuss the timber law – but he claimed he was too busy. So Greenpeace delivered your message and a copy of the new ‘forest love’ video to environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas and President Barroso’s environmental advisor, Ms Clara Martinez-Alberola.

As one of the world's biggest wood consumers, Europe has a responsibility to help stop deforestation, illegal logging and its impacts on climate, biodiversity and forest communities. It's time for the commission to take action on strong timber laws.

Thanks to everyone that contributed to the Forests Love campaign through Flickr. We loved the submissions so much, we've made a little video of them to deliver to Brussels. We'd like to back this video up with 100,000 letters to President Barroso and we need your help!
