Rio+20 Earth Summit 2012
20 - 22 June 2012
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Twenty years after the first gathering under the banner Earth Summit put sustainable development on the global political map, heads of state and government, business leaders and civil society will again come together in Rio to gauge how much progress has been made and what needs to be done next.

While there are increasingly worrying signs that the Earth Summit will be marred by a 'business as usual' attitude and a very low level of ambition, we will be there to press home what is possible: that solutions are available and affordable, that investments in clean technologies are rising, that deforestation can be stopped, and food provided for all if governments have the will.

Greenpeace will focus at the Rio+20 Earth Summit on ending the Wild West exploitation of our High Seas, on achieving a zero deforestation law in Brazil. You can find all about Greenpeace at the Earth Summit on this page.

Blog entry by Jess Miller | June 20, 2012

Fossil fools from G20 to Rio+20

Blog entry by Patricia Lerner, Greenpeace International | June 19, 2012 3 comments

Three years ago I was in Pittsburgh and witnessed the G20 leaders commit to phasing out "inefficient fossil fuel subsidies over the medium term". That wasn´t the urgency we were looking for then, or the one sought with the global...
