Who is Mister Splashy Pants, but more importantly - where are the “Sons and Daughters of Splashy” coming from? Are you the next creators of a global icon that can help save our oceans – it’s not as hard as you might think.
Back in 2008, Mister Splashy Pants took centre stage in the fight to save the whale and Splashy has since now become immortalized on video, on-line, in a book and yes, on underpants!
To highlight what real science can do to save the whales, Greenpeace collaborated with scientists in New Caledonia to tag endangered humpback whales– which at the time Japan was planning to hunt in the Southern Ocean – and monitor their migration patterns. Greenpeace launched a competition to name the tagged whales and yes, you guessed it… Mister Splashy Pants was born!
The oceans need more Mister Splashy Pants heroes
The oceans need creative people, bold people, determined people to join together to protect not just the whales, but all the ocean life at risk from exploitation and destruction. We need a new generation – Sons and Daughters of Splashy - to set the internet alight and make oceans protection real. We need to make people laugh and cry – be moved by what is happening and, most importantly, be inspired by what can be done.
Tweet us your inspiring stories of Splashy, your ideas for the next generation of Splashies, and anyone or anything else that has brought the oceans to life for you.
