Whale Trial - Behind the Scenes: Lady Justice

A 'living statue' of Lady Justice greets those entering the Aomori court. This living statue has scales, with a box of whale meat on one side, and taxpayer yen on the other. Around one billion Yen a year of taxpayer money is spent keeping the so-called “scientific” whaling programme running, despite it being unneeded, unwanted, and highly damaging to Japan’s international reputation. At the start of the trial, Greenpeace presented an ice sculpture of Lady Justice to the court as a gift.
