Forest Fires in Sumatra

Haze from fires on deforested peatland near PT Tunggal Mitra Plantation – a palm oil company belonging to the Sime Darby group, a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palmoil (RSPO). According to the most recent official charts, the area at Pujud village in Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau, Sumatra is covered by the Indonesia government’s moratorium on the issuance of new permits in primary forests and peatlands.
