River in Cameroon

Photo | 16 July, 2012

A river in an area of planned oil palm plantation expansion. Many rivers cross this area before entering the Korup National park and the Cross-River basin (one of the biggest hydrologic system in the Congo Basin). If the project of plantation expansion goes ahead, these rivers will be polluted, affecting the human consumption of their fish and the Korup National Park and the whole Cross-River Basin will be contaminated. Already a river whose water was used as drinking water by the people in the village of Fabe, has been polluted by the palm tree nursery of Herakles Farms.02/19/2012
