29 September - Russia. Greenpeace International activist Sini Saarela (from Finland), one of the 28 Greenpeace International activists along with a freelance videographer and freelance photographer, would become known as the Arctic 30. They would be detained for two months in Russia pending an investigation into possible charges of piracy following a peaceful protest against Arctic oil drilling.
