We thought it unfair that among the Heads of State invited to the Queen's dinner in Copenhagen, that a representative of the whole planet wasn't invited. Earth needed a voice, it needed representation. So we sent two to crash the party.
Delegation from Earth about to be evicted from Danish Queen's dinner party with 100 heads of state at Copenhagen climate summit.
Hours before the Copenhagen climate summit comes to a close, the future of our planet lies in the hands of world leaders that have just breezed into town. And somehow, instead of getting down to the nitty gritty, they were dining with the Queen.
World leaders might have been expecting just another photo opportunity in Copenhagen, but that was before we invited ourselves to dinner. We thought they might need a reminder it's time to step forward and steer these climate negotiations in the right direction on the final day of talks.
With only precious hours left till the end of the summit, activists in a three-car convoy joined the motorcade, carrying our very own Head of State to the dinner at the Parliament.
Upon arrival, our distinguished representative and her husband entered the dinner and held up two banners reading "Politicians Talk Leaders Act." They were there to represent the 11 million of you that have demanded that world leaders take personal responsibility at the summit and deliver a fair, ambitious and legally binding treaty.
To make sure they got the message loud and clear, 25 activists scaled lampposts outside of the security cordon with banners demanding action from the world leaders on their way to dinner. "Don't betray our children's future" was projected onto the Parliament building itself, as well as the Prime Minister's office, in English, French and German.
So far, the industrialised world has failed to show anything like the leadership that is urgently needed to get a deal that will prevent climate change from spiraling out of control. Their lack of action will condemn millions of people to ever-increasing impacts of climate chaos. We can't let them get away with this.
Two years ago, they promised us a real deal to save the climate and that deal would be agreed in Copenhagen, now. The time has come for world leaders to deliver on their promises and sign a deal with long term financing, ambitious emissions cuts and that is legally binding. They have the power to make it happen today.
Make your voice heard and join the 13 million people that have demanded action on climate change.
13 Million people have demanded a fair ambitious binding treaty to stop climate change. Let's make it 15 million.
Your contributions are what keep us in action. We don't let corporations or governments feed us, so we're free to bite their hands.
