The species is in great demand in the international timber trade. Illegal international trade is seriously undermining the domestic management initiatives that aim to ensure that trade is legal and sustainable. The proposal meets the criteria for CITES as it is internationally traded, wild populations are declining and international trade is having a detrimental impact on wild populations.
