As G8 and EU ministers gathered in Berlin to discuss energy efficiency measures, Greenpeace used a mechanised road roller to crush ten thousand energy-wasting light bulbs at the Brandenburg Gate today, demanding tough European efficiency standards for energy using products, and an immediate ban on incandescent light bulbs.

Greenpeace today welcomed the latest climate change report "Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability" from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), but warned that time was nearly out to prevent the dramatic, harmful and dangerous impacts projected for coming decades.

“G8: Stop Talking – Act Now” is the message sent by Greenpeace today to environment ministers meeting in the Cecilienhof Palace in Potsdam, Germany. Activists from the Greenpeace ship “Beluga II” swam to the palace to take a petition to the ministers urging them to use the forthcoming June G8 summit in Germany to agree concrete action to halt climate change.
