(UPDATED - see below) With a banner reading 'Palm Oil Kills Forests and Climate' the Rainbow Warrior has anchored next to a palm oil tanker blocking it in port. Our ship is stationed close enough to the tanker that the tug boats can't get it out of dock.

Bayer's costly GE rice scandal

When an unapproved genetically engineered (GE) crop was discovered in American rice last year, it triggered the biggest marketing and financial disaster in the history of the US rice industry. We commissioned an independent economist to do some maths; he found that total costs could exceed USD$1.2 billion.

Activists take to the trees

Jaguars are tree climbers, but there is no federal law to protecting their forest - so our activists have taken to the trees themselves. Dressed as jaguars, they're camped in the treetops of the Yungas in a bid to block the bulldozers until a federal law can be passed.
