Stop climate change

The world's leaders meet at the end of 2009 in Copenhagen to determine the fate of the climate. They could set us on the path to a deep emissions cuts or they could lock the planet into catastrophic, irreversible climate change.

End the nuclear age

Greenpeace has always fought - and will continue to fight - vigorously against nuclear power because it is an unacceptable risk to the environment and to humanity. The only solution is to halt the expansion of all nuclear power, and for the shutdown of existing plants.

Safety

As the planet wakes up to the fact that global warming is a reality and that fast action is needed, the nuclear industry, having floundered for a few decades, has seized on the opportunity to promote itself as the answer to our energy fears.

Accidents

The history of the Nuclear Age is one of accidents but instead of issuing warnings or taking precautions, nuclear power plant operators and civil and military authorities try to conceal the truth. The past 50 years of nuclear operations have run on the basis of cover-ups, deception, lies, and misinformation.

No more Chernobyls

Time heals everything, doesn't it? It has been 20 years since the name Chernobyl became the infamous nuclear accident that devastated the lives of millions of people in Western Russia, Belarus and the Ukraine. 20 years on, and the nightmare for thousands of people is still frightening.
