Toxic trade

Greenpeace has documented hundreds of cases where developed countries have traded or transferred toxic waste problems to developing countries.

On the 20th anniversary of the Bhopal industrial disaster, Greenpeace activists display images from Bhopal and ask the general public for signatures demanding the chemical industry Dow to pay its debt with the citizens of Bhopal. The 1984 chemical explosion at Union Carbide in Bhopal, India killed and maimed thousands. Dow bought Union Carbide in 2001, but will not accept any responsibility for the clean up of the contaminated site. Enlarge Image

Across the globe irresponsible companies and negligent governments have created many global toxic hotspots.

Greener Electronics

The world is consuming more and more electronic products every year. This has caused a dangerous explosion in electronic scrap (e-waste) containing toxic chemicals and heavy metals that cannot be disposed of or recycled safely. But this problem can be avoided. We are pressing leading electronic companies to change; to turn back the toxic tide of e-waste.
