Konin coalition stands up against coal

Our team at the Climate Rescue Station in Poland joined 400 local people who live close to an open coal mine for a mass demonstration. Seven mayors from nearby villages and towns, which are facing destruction because of the mine's expansion, also attended.

E.ON’s coal construction brought to a full stop

Supported by the Rainbow Warrior, a hundred of our volunteer activists occupied the construction site of the new E.ON coal fired power plant in Rotterdam. They halted construction for 10 hours before they were all arrested by police. Special police cut their chains and neck locks and removed everyone from the site by the end of the day.

Lignite mine expansion stopped in Czech Republic

Thirty of our activists have shut down a giant excavator in one of the largest lignite mines in the Czech Republic. We're calling on the Czech Republic to close this mine by 2012, commit to progressively decreasing their carbon emissions and to play a constructive role in the creation of effective climate policy.

How many windmills does it take to stop a coal power plant?

More than 80 activists occupied the site of E.ON's proposed coal fired power-plant in Antwerp Harbour – setting up over four thousand tiny windmills and painting the message "Flanders Quit Coal" on the tarmac.
