Disney has claimed that it needs to take no action about toxic chemicals in its products because current weak laws on chemicals do not force them to act. However in Denmark this week, authorities have discovered that two Disney products contain illegal amounts of toxic chemicals. The retailer ToysRus has withdrawn these products - 'Turtle Squirt' toy from the Nemo film and a Pooh bath mat from sale.

Disney profits obviously go before chemical safety for kids. If Disney wanted to, they could demand these substances phased out entirely. But up to now, they choose not to.

Even ToysRus is not happy with having to withdraw illegal Disney products, Product Safety Director Jon Vastrup said: "We are sorry about this episode and have withdrawn the product from the shelves. It's a problem for us and for the consumer. We have an expectation that when we buy Disney, then we also buy good quality. But unfortunately, this is not the first Disney-product that we have problems with".

Write to Disney to tell them to clean up its act.

The fact that products with dangerous chemicals are on the shelves of retailers like ToysRus shows the importance of new laws being debated in the EU which could be come a worldwide bench mark. The chemical industry is trying hard to undermine these new laws so we need your help.
