Greenpeace to sue French Nuclear Industry

Eiffel Tower anti-nuclear protest

French state nuclear company Areva sponsored a ring of golden European Union stars for the Eiffel Tower, to mark France's term as EU president. Today, we added a nuclear hazard symbol.

Illuminating the manipulation behind the nuclear ‘renaissance’

Greenpeace lit up central Prague for the past two evenings with giant projected slogans reminding the public, media and energy decision makers about the risks of nuclear power versus the benefits of clean energy. We illuminated Prague; we were also putting a spotlight on delegates at the second European Nuclear Energy Forum.

Nuclear power belongs in the past

It is now the 22 anniversary of Chernobyl explosion, the largest civil nuclear disaster ever. Serious contamination spread over 150 000 square kilometres in Byelorussia, Ukraine and Russia. Radioactive clouds deposited radiation thousands of kilometres away. Hundreds of thousands people had to be evacuated, and millions more were left to live in areas that were dangerous to their health and lives.

Nuclear blow to UK climate policy

The UK government have made much of their green credentials boasting that they lead the world in tackling climate change. So what do they do? Give the green light to a new generation of nuclear power stations that will cost billions, eventually deliver only tiny cuts in carbon emissions and leave future generations with a legacy of nuclear waste to clean up.
