Rainbow Warrior impounded by Dutch police

The Rainbow Warrior has been impounded and the captain arrested after it was boarded by the police three times over the weekend. The ship was part of a protest against the new coal fired power station that E.ON is building next to their existing climate-changing coal plant. The Rainbow Warrior together with one of our other ships - the Beluga II - were blocking the coal port of Rotterdam to stop any coal ships from entering. After spending the day surrounded by police boats they were eventually forced to leave the coal port in the evening.

Rainbow Warrior delivers MSF aid to Beirut

The Rainbow Warrior has returned to Larnaca, Cyprus, after its second trip to Beirut delivering a total of 60 tonnes of urgently needed humanitarian supplies on behalf of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). A further hundred tonnes are still scheduled to be transported.

Commemoration, Peace, and Action in Auckland and Paris

It was twenty years ago that two explosions sank our flagship, Rainbow Warrior, and killed our photographer, Fernando Pereira. To mark this anniversary, we brought original crewmembers and new activists together to pay tribute to a colleague killed and a boat bombed, in two ceremonies: one in Matauri Bay, New Zealand, and the other in Paris.

Humanitarian and medical aid organised by Medecins Sans Frontieres is being loaded onto the Greenpeace flagship, Rainbow Warrior. The shipment of mainly medical supplies and food is on its way to Meulaboh on the west coast of Aceh province. Shipments by sea are essential at this moment as most land access to areas in the west coast of Aceh is severely damaged by the tsunami disaster. More than 50 percent of Meulaboh was devastated by the December 26, 2004 earthquake and tsunami waves that hit most coastal areas and islands in the Indian Ocean. Enlarge Image

Rainbow Warrior aids tsunami survivors

Our ship, the Rainbow Warrior, is helping medical aid organisation Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to get relief supplies to parts of Indonesia devastated by the Indian Ocean earthquake.
