Thirty Greenpeace activists occupy the Didcot coal-fired powerstation. 
The Didcot site is the second most polluting power station in Britain 
- two thirds of the energy it generates is wasted. Greenpeace is 
demanding that the Government phases out these kind of coal fired 
power stations and instead backs localised - or decentralised power 
generation. 1

Greenpeace activists dressed as deep sea creatures are caught along

position on bottom trawling took place near Parliament Hill in Ottawa. 6
The Japanese Fisheries Agency whaling fleet leaves Shimonoseki, Japan 
bound for the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary with plans to harpoon 935 
minke whales and 10 endangered fin whales. 7

Greenpeace volunteers unfurl banners while hanging from the Howrah 
Bridge over the river Ganga. Greenpeace is raising an alarm on one of 
the most serious impacts of Climate Change, the rapid rate of retreat 
of the Himalayan Glaciers, some of which are receding at nearly double 
the speed as compared to two decades back. This has already adversely 
impacted the water discharge to rivers which originate from the 
glaciers. 9
Hundreds of people from across Britain march on the Atomic Weapons 
Establishment at Aldermaston in Berkshire. They are converging in 
large groups from all directions - by bus, train, bicycle and on foot 
- determined to carry out the world’s largest ever inspection of a 
nuclear weapons factory. A big police presence of several hundred 
officers is protecting the site. 10

problem of tuna farming as well as demanding that ICCAT cut the total 
allowable catch for bluefin tuna in half. 12
Six months of investigations by Greenpeace show that traders including 
Germany's biggest agricultural traders, Raiffeisen, are selling toxic 
and strictly prohibited pesticides. 13
