Rice is the staple diet for most Chinese people and it is the source of livelihood for more than 100 million farmers, it is cultivated in traditional paddy fields such as these in the Yunnan Province. But it seems that the Chinese government may introduce genetically engineered rice in 2005 - risking all of this.
