The Kimberly-Clark Corporation is the largest tissue product manufacturer in the world. It makes some of Europe’s most well known brands of tissue and toilet papers such as Kleenex, Andrex, Scottex (Italy, Spain), Page (The Netherlands) and Hakle (Germany, Switzerland, Austria).
Behind its fluffy public image where playful puppies are used to promote its products the reality is less than cute. Much of the raw material (wood fibre) used by Kimberly-Clark comes from ancient forests. Demand is so high that Kimberly-Clark and the people who buy its products are fuelling the destruction of the world’s remaining ancient forests.
