Greenpeace: Coastal Dumps Kill the Mediterranean. Marine Reserves Now!

Greenpeace activists led a peaceful protest on the World Environment day today, in front of the Saida waste dump, South Lebanon, reminding politicians of the plight of the Mediterranean sea, demanding the establishment of marine reserves and the closure of all coastal dumps.

Greenpeace vessel attacked

Three Turkish tuna fishing vessels surrounded the Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise in the Cypriot Channel this morning, with crew from one vessel attacking the ship with lead weights. Greenpeace is in the area to call for an end to unsustainable fishing and to call for the establishment of a marine reserve between Cyprus and Turkey.

Arctic Sunrise is in Turkey for the future of Mediterranean Sea

Greenpeace today highlighted the urgent need of protection for the Cypriot Channel at a press conference onboard the Arctic Sunrise in Mersin. Greenpeace Medíterranean tour whıch started in the Ionian Sea and will continue its call for a network of marine reserves in the region for the next 3 months.

Fishing out the Pirates of the Mediterranean updated
