Purpose
- Lead and direct the operations of the Tel Aviv Fundraising Department in meeting its responsibility to acquire and retain donors in Israel via Direct Dialogue, Telemarketing, Online and other means.
- Develop the fundraising team, providing effective leadership to enable and motivate team members to operate to their full potential.
A requirement of the position is to work closely with other departments (particularly the Program Department) to ensure integration of fundraising practices in GP Mediterranean’s campaigns strategies
Responsibilities
FR Team Management
- Build, support and manage departmental staff, encouraging innovation and responsibility.
- Provide the training and support needed. Identify and develop leadership potential.
- Communicate key departmental and organisational issues and decisions within the department.
Fundraising Development
- Ensure that fundraising income is maximised in line with the fundraising strategy.
- Manage and monitor fundraising programmes to ensure that the annual fundraising income meets targets, and that acquisition and retention programmes achieve the supporter number objectives.
- Creatively identify and implement new opportunities both in revenue streams/products and in fundraising channels. For example, improved retention, improved Direct Dialogue and
- Telemarketing programs, new media fundraising or others.
- Review and maintain fundraising systems and procedures.
- With the Fundraising Director manage revenue and expenditure budgets within approved limits.
- Ensure that fundraising activities comply with the requirements of local legislation.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of banking, VAT and tax benefit aspects, to assess opportunities or threats within the fundraising programmes.
- Collaborate effectively with the communications department to ensure coherence with the communications strategy, and for cross departmental integration on aspects such as pro-bono work, web, and campaign communications.
- Promote integration with campaign projects, to maximise potential impact on fundraising programmes, and develop supporter mobilisation.
Fundraising Management
- As a member of the Fundraising Management Team, maintain a high commitment to Greenpeace values and meeting campaign goals.
- Through the Fundraising Management Team, contribute to the development and effectiveness of GP Med’s Fundraising Department and GP Med as a whole. This includes: developing and implementing department strategies, policies and plans; addressing issues; and supporting and communicating decisions taken by the Tel Aviv Office Director, the Fundraising Director, and other SMT Members.
- Maintain productive and effective working relationship with other Fundraising Department Managers, and keep informed of current best practices in other Greenpeace Fundraising departments both within GPMed and internationally
- Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Tel Aviv Office Director or Fundraising Director
Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- At least 4 years experience in fundraising and management.
- Significant experience in managing Direct Dialogue and Telemarketing programs.
- Knowledge of Direct Mail acquisition, Data Analysis and Segmentation.
- Experience in major donor fundraising
Leadership qualities:
- Committed to furthering Greenpeace’s campaign goals as well as the organizational development of GP Mediterranean.
- Able to inspire team spirit and resolve conflicts.
Management qualities:
- Capacity to prepare and present detailed and realistic fundraising strategy.
- Able to support and guide staff, manage multiple projects, work to a timeline, work with sensitive information, work with minimal supervision, deal with stressful situations and meet deadlines.
Database and IT:
- Understanding of databases and new media technology
Language:
- Fluent in English, Hebrew desirable
