Tel Aviv, Israel — An official meeting was held between the representatives of Greenpeace and the Minister of National Infrastructures, Dr. Uzi Landau. The motivation for the meeting derived from the desire of both parties to work together in order to promote green issues related to the Infrastructure ministry. Greenpeace presented the minister policy recommendations in order to promote renewable energy in Israel and suggested solutions to remove barriers which renewable entrepreneurs are facing to date. Attorney Nili Grossman, energy and climate campaigner in Greenpeace Mediterranean, presented her conclusions based on a broad policy document that was prepared by the organization.

Dr. Landau, the Infrastructure minister shared his own vision of turning red roof tops into green buildings and investing in renewable energy, a vision which he works towards since his first day on the job.

Also attended the meeting, Dr. Amit Mor, who presented the renewable energy cost-benefit analysis for the Israeli economy, showing a 2.5 billion $ profit. Dr. Mor previously took part in writing "The energy master plan" for the Israeli government.

The Minister, Uzi Landau said: "It is inconceivable that private Israeli entrepreneurs prefer to invest overseas rather than in Israel, only because of bureaucratic procedures. We shall concentrate our efforts in speeding up the licensing processes and adjust the tariffs in order to achieve the renewable target set. I am directed by the formula – "the greener, the better" and to do so we wish to cooperate with important environmental NGOs such as Greenpeace."

Attorney Nili Grossman said today:
"I am thankful for the successful meeting and I am impressed by the seriousness of his intentions. In order to achieve the 10% target of the governmental decision, immediate steps need to be taken in order to remove the barriers such as the allocation of land, difficulty in capital-raising and the need to update tariffs.

Renewable energy is the key to resolve the climate crisis and since it is known as an economic engine it can serve as a solution to the global economic crisis as well".
