Nuclear Law: First Episode of a Lethal Scenario

Our activists have protested against an irrational draft law proposed by the Turkish Prime Minister Erdgon aimed at encouraging uncontrolled nuclear investments in Turkey while offering no protection to the Turkish people from the threats posed by nuclear power.

Greenpeace calls on Atomic Agency Head, Dr. El Baradei to stop promoting deadly nuclear technology

Nobel Peace prize winner and head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Dr. El Baradei was confronted by Greenpeace today. As he was speaking at a conference on ‘Harvesting Nuclear Energy’ at the Turkish Atomic Energy Agency (TAEK), Greenpeace activists held a banner which read “Seed Nuclear - Harvest Death” in front of the TAEK building. Three activists posing as Dr. El Baradei, a nuclear cooling tower and a nuclear missile exposed the inseparable link between nuclear energy and nuclear bombs.

Chernobyl death toll grossly underestimated

A new Greenpeace report has revealed that the full consequences of the Chernobyl disaster could top a quarter of a million cancers cases and nearly 100,000 fatal cancers.

Nukes, Iran, the UN, and the slide towards war

Somewhere out there, the only winners in the current conflict over Iran's nuclear programme are rubbing their hands with glee. They love hearing about the "inalienable right" to build nuclear power plants. They love watching nuclear superpowers try to bully non-nuclear states into agreeing not to develop nukes, yet fail to explain why they themselves haven't gotten rid of theirs. They love seeing nuclear weapons being presented as the measure of a country's greatness. That's because the only winners in this conflict sell the stuff that makes all this war drumming possible. They sell nuclear power plants. They build nuclear weapons.

Greenpeace Occupies Coal Plant to Demand Peaceful Energy Future for Turkey

Nine Greenpeace volunteers scaled the cooling tower at state-controlled Can coal-fired power station this morning in protest at the Government’s continuing obsession with fossil fuel energy sources despite their proven role in causing the global threat of climate change. At the entrance to the plant a further 10 volunteers some dressed as wind turbines demonstrated that renewable energy solutions are ready and able to prevent climate change. 21 Greenpeace activists are now taken under custody by the Gendarme after the 5,5-hour occupation of the cooling tower.

Peaceful Energy Tour launched

To mark the arrival of the Greenpeace ship, the “SV Anna”, Greenpeace Mediterranean organized a Press Conference today to launch its “Peaceful Energy” tour in the eastern Mediterranean. Greenpeace is urging governments to immediately act to stop Climate Change by switching to renewable energy and energy efficiency measures. The Press Conference took place on the keyside near “Anna” at Kurucesme harbor in Istanbul. It was organized along with the Chamber of Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) and RESYAD (Wind Energy Farms Investors Association).
