Orca whales, Ross Sea, Antarctica

The Ross Sea is home to 6 percent of the world’s Antarctic minke whales, perhaps 50 percent of Type C orcas, known as the “Ross Sea killer whale,” which feed primarily on toothfish instead of seals or whales), and tens of thousands of Weddell seals, about half the population in the South Pacific sector of the Southern Ocean.
