Shell wants to drill in the Arctic this summer, but the oil giant can't even keep its equipment safe in Southern Alaskan conditions.
The latest in a series of equipment, permit, and weather-related mishaps occurred off the coast of Alaska when the company lost control of one of its oil rigs.
The rig was being towed from the Arctic by Shell when it hit heavy weather that caused the towing line to break and the rig to drift free then run aground.
After all that Shell isn't stopping. The company intends to try again in 2013 and the decision about whether or not it gets that opportunity is being made right now. This is our chance to stop Shell from drilling in the Arctic next year and beyond.
Take action today and join our campaign to protect the Arctic. Tell President Obama to call for a 'timeout' from Arctic drilling and suspend Shell's permits.
