Ta ikke alt for god fisk!

Havet er ikke uutømmelig. De siste femti årene har det vært en kraftig økning i fisket, verdenshavene tømmes som aldri før. Konsekvensene er alarmerende. Ifølge FNs Landbruks- og matvareorganisasjon FAO ble det i 2005 fisket opp mot 160 millioner tonn fisk fra verdenshavene. Det er sju ganger så mye som i 1950.

Fishy Business: Stolen Pacific Tuna in the European Market

New evidence gathered by Greenpeace and presented in this report shows that part of the tuna fleet licensed to fish in the Eastern Pacific - and linked to the European market - has become involved in illegal, unregulated and unreported (IUU) fishing activities, also known as pirate fishing, in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean – one of the last remaining large tuna fisheries on the planet.

Challenging the Aquaculture Industry on Sustainability

Against a continuing background of diminishing and over–exploited marine resources, aquaculture has been widely held up as a panacea to the problem of providing a growing world population with ever-increasing amounts of fish for consumption. With the expansion of the industry,however, the tendency has been for methods of production to intensify, particularly in the production of carnivorous species. This has resulted in many serious impacts on the environment and human rights abuses. This report examines some of the serious environmental and social impacts that have resulted from the development and practice of aquaculture and which are reflected across the global industry.
