Map of the forest fires in the radiation contaminated areas in Russia
Greenpeace today published a map showing that wildfires are spreading across the radiation contaminated forests.
Greenpeace calculates those means the country will spend to fight the forest fires and deal with their consequences, would be enough to finance several-year work of a state forest protection body of 20 000 employees.
The climate change that caused a terrible heat wave and drought in Russia is important but not the only reason for the devastating wildfires in the Central Russia regions.

Two weeks ago the bathyscaphs “MIR” submerged not far from the Baikalsk Pulp and Paper Mill. They took samples at a depth of 33 metres in the area of the waste water pipe from the Mill. Analyses were undertaken over the following two weeks.
