The winners of a half-year-long contest were announced on Friday at the press-conferences in Irkutsk and Moscow.

Since January 13th (the date when Mr. Putin relaunched Baikalsk PPM) 12 nominees have been competing to get a Golden Tick, the contest main prize, for playing the major role in destroying the World Heritage Site – Lake Baikal.

The biggest Golden Tick went to the Russian Prime-Minister Vladimir Putin who received more than 50% of votes for signing the Resolution#1 that allows Baikalsk PPM to discharge waste directly to the lake.

This Sunday Russia is celebrating the Day of Baikal. On its eve Greenpeace activists set up a billboard commemorating the names of the three main Baikal enemies next to the pipe discharging toxic waste from Baikalsk PPM.
