Flash Mob in Defense of Baikal in Irkutsk
Some 700 activists brought bottles labelled "Baikal Water" containing coloured water to the administration building. According to observers, this was the largest Flash Mob in Irkutsk.
"We organize Flash Mobs because negligence and inaction is a crime against oneself. We don't oppose the pipeline as such. We don't impede economic development of the region. We advocate FOR BAIKAL. We demand to remove the pipeline farther from Baikal. Any device stops working eventually. In five, ten, fifty years the pipe is going to have a rupture. As a result of an earthquake, deterioration, error or negligence. THIS WILL HAPPEN IN ANY CASE. A DISASTER IS INEVITABLE. All we ask for is to shift the pipeline route away from the Baikal shore.
We will act until we see the results of our efforts.
