Greenpeace races to reach disintegrating glacier

Our ship, The Arctic Sunrise is currently heading north along the west coast of Greenland in a race against time. It's destination is the disintegrating Petermann Glacier, but to reach the glacier our ship must pass through the Nares Strait, which could be flooded with dangerous sea ice at any moment.

Greenpeace Water Patrol returns trash, toxic water to DENR

Greenpeace Water Patrol activists today returned trash and toxic water from a dumpsite in Laguna Lake to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to call attention to how shoddy dumpsite closure policies are endangering the country’s water sources and people’s health and welfare. Greenpeace, together with the EcoWaste Coalition, is demanding that the government agency implement more stringent closure guidelines for garbage dumps.

ASEAN should Quit Coal to avoid climate catastrophe: Greenpeace

Greenpeace today called upon the ASEAN countries to urgently phase out coal fired power plants and invest in renewable energy to avert a climate catastrophe, at the launch of its report “True cost of Coal” in Bangkok today. The report was released to mark the fifth anniversary of assassination of anti-coal activist Charoen Wataksorn, at Bo Nok, Prachuab Kirikhan province of Thailand.
