Chainat, THAILAND —
Makamtao subdistrict of Chainat province was chosen as one of the 14 areas suitable for building a nuclear power plant under Thailand's Power Development Plan. Therefore, Greenpeace Southeast Asia and Solar Generation were invited by Chao Phraya-Tajeen Motherland Conservation Group to provide knowledge about the impacts of nuclear power plants and to hold an exhibition of Chernobyl impacts and climate change impacts in an anti-nuclear concert by Caravan band at Wat Sing school on 14 June.
Then on 15 June, Solar Generation led by Pornsiri Cheevapattanuvong, Solar Generation Coordinator organized an activity for teachers and 400 students of Wat Sing and other 3 nearby schools in the district. We provided knowledge and understanding about the impacts of a nuclear power plants if it is built.
