The Philippines' premiere rock band, The Dawn, has thrown its weight behind the planet's premiere environmental issue - global warming - as it called on Filipinos to support clean, renewable energy.

"Coal ain't cool," said Jett Pangan recently in a 15-second message he recorded for the international environmental campaign organization, Greenpeace.  "Make the switch to clean energy - now!" Pangan said in the video which is now playing in MTV and other major networks.  The short clip can be downloaded from Greenpeace's website in Southeast Asia, www.greenpeace.org.ph .  The country's top band has been wearing Greenpeace shirts in its concerts in support of the environmental group's campaign to stop climate change and to promote clean energy.

The Dawn is currently promoting their offering, "Harapin", under Warnermusic Philippines. The album contains the certified hits " Harapin ang Liwanag", "Tulad ng Dati", and "Change is Breaking Us Apart". These singles are enjoying heavy airplay in major radio stations, MYX, and MTV.

Recorded and mixed entirely in Pipeline Studios, "Harapin" is destined to become one of The Dawn's strongest albums to date as the band's musical legacy will hit the 20-year mark in 2006! The late, great guitarist and founder Teddy Diaz spearheaded the band in 1986 until his ultimely demise in 1988, creating the timeless hits "Enveloped Ideas", "Dreamer", "Love will Set Us Free" and many others. These sure-fire crowd raisers are still very much a part of The Dawn's set-list as well as the anthems that followed like "Iisang Bangka Tayo" and "Salamat".
