Our statement on the outcome of the Mindanao Power Summit held at the Waterfront Insular Hotel, Davao City, today

We are disappointed that the government wasn't categorically clear about removing coal as an option, even though Mindanaoans today presented at the Summit proposals that were clearly asking for more renewable energy and no coal.  We see this as a continuation of failure of leadership.  If the government will not listen to the people of Mindanao, DOE Sec Almendras should proceed with his offer to resign --Von Hernandez, Executive Director, Greenpeace Southeast Asia.

Communities are opposing coal power plant in Mindanao during the Energy Summit in Waterfront Hotel in Davao. Greenpeace is pushing for renewable energy as a solutions for the region, instead of anchoring the island’s energy future on dirty coal power.
