Greenpeace joins Sikad Subic Anti-Coal Run

Greenpeace volunteers join the thousands of advocates from other NGOs and community groups for the Anti-Coal Fun Run in Olongapo City organized by Sikad Subic, an organization that campaigns against the setting-up of coal fired power plants in the city. Coal-fired power plants are identified as the single biggest source of carbon emissions, largely responsible for climate change. Greenpeace is advocating for an Energy [R]evolution - a transformation in the way energy is used, produced and distributed - shifting away from fossil fuels such as coal, with an identified target of 50% Renewable Energy for the Philippines by 2020.
