Scientific demonstration in Manila Bay

Scientists from University of the Philippines (UP MSI) uses a Niskin bottle to collect water samples from Manila bay. These samples can give us an idea on the presence of heavy metals and persistant organic pollutants in the water. Greenpeace together with UP MSI conducts a scientific demonstration on Manila Bay pollutants as part of the Ocean Defender tour. The Greenpeace ship, M/Y Esperanza is in the Philippines for the “Ocean Defender Tour of Southeast Asia 2013.” The tour aims to tell the story of the richness and the beauty of the Philippine seas, expose destruction that causes marine degradation and sound the alarm to call for urgent government action to save the Philippine seas from crisis.
