Victory!!
Unbelievable but true, less than six months after Greenpeace
launched our campaign for an Energy [R]evolution in Thailand, we've
received confirmation from the Department of Alternative Energy
Development and Efficiency that Thailand is embarking on an
ambitious program to increase investments in research and
development of wind, solar, biomass, and other clean renewable
energy sources.
To find out more information read the "
Dawn of an Energy [R]evolution in Thailand".
Thanks to you and thousands of Greenpeace supporters, we have
not only ensured energy security for our nation, but also done our
bit to combat climate change.
More renewable energy means less greenhouse gas emissions, which
means less floods, droughts and extreme weather events that have
been causing havoc across the planet.
In the coming months Greenpeace will use our new
True Cost of Coal report to ensure the Energy Ministry
implement their intentions and that we, the people of Thailand,
genuinely gain from the power of sun and wind.
Using examples in Southeast Asia this report explains how
burning coal is one of the most harmful practices on the planet
causing irreparable damage not only to the environment, but to
people's health and communities around the world.
Greenpeace remains committed to turning back the dangerous tide
of dirty coal. With your support, we've gotten this far - with your
continued support we can do a lot more.
Thank you and congratulations! Greenpeace could not have done
this without you.
Sincerely yours,
Tara Buakamsri
