Last week Stephen Hawking stated that "life on Earth is at an increased risk of being wiped out by disaster, such as sudden global warming, nuclear war or a genetically engineered virus or other dangers." If the Gene Technology Amendment Bill that is currently tabled in Federal Parliament were to be passed, it would certainly bring us a step closer to Hawking's stark predictions.
