Born and raised in the heart of Chicago, Monica moved to California to study Environmental Justice Studies: Race, Class, Gender and the Environment at the Pomona College. Since graduating in 2009, Monica has worked with community activists and diverse organizations across the country to retire 10 coal-fired power plants and advance local renewable energy economies.

Following in the footsteps of her parents and grandparents, who were all union and community organizers, Monica is committed to bring together diverse interests to tackle social, economic and environmental justice issues.
