Twenty years ago, thanks to an overwhelming amount of public support, commercial whaling was banned worldwide. Today, the International Whaling Commission holds the fate of the world’s whales in the hands of a few individuals. Unfortunately, the Japanese governments so called 'vote consolidation program means that after years of political maneuvering, they may now have the votes they need to take over and push to reopen commercial whaling.
