Bathypathes, a specimen of black coral, is pictured in this Greenpeace handout image. It is the first record of the genus in the Bering Sea. The top image was made on the deck of the Greenpeace support vessel Esparanza. The bottom image was made by a remote-operated-vehicle at a depth of about 924 meters in the Bering Sea's Zhemchug Canyon. The fish in the bottom image is a snailfish. Both images were made on August 5, 2007.
