Our world is in trouble, and I'll tell you why. I moved to
Vancouver in 1991 and have lived here since with the exceptions of
traveling abroad. It is now 2005 and I am very sad.
I remember the days of summer sitting on top of the local
mountains after a nice short hike and enjoying the views of such
wonderful things as Mt. Baker in the states just over the border.
Nowadays - only 14 years later in my young life - on a hot, dry
summer day I can no longer see the beauty of Mt. Baker. It sucks
when you cannot see more then 1-2 kms in front of you because the
smog is so thick.
When are we going to understand that now is the time for
change?? As good as the Kyoto Protocol sounds, we need about 40 of
them in effect to stop the pollution, nevermind bringing the levels
to 1990. Mr. George (cowboy) Bush, remove that 10-gallon cap from
your butt, stop worrying about economics and show the world you
actually care! Lead by example, as we all must do.
