The video, available at http://www.polluterharmony.com/, depicts two polluter lobbyists discussing their prospects on Capitol Hill, and launches an online contest in which anyone can suggest a polluter – politician match. The best match will receive a special Polluterharmony surprise. Submissions can be sent to [email protected] or by using the hashtag #polluterharmony on Twitter. Greenpeace Executive Director Phil Radford offered the first submission:
@Phil_Radford: Closed-door meetings w/ industry leaders scheming attacks on the Clean Air Act http://politi.co/h8vvY1 That’s #polluterharmony
Greenpeace launched Polluterharmony last year and produced a series of videos which satirized real examples of close connections between polluters and politicians. In March 2010, Greenpeace activists confronted Senator Murkowski’s ties to industry lobbyists with a floating Polluterharmony banner in the Senate Hart Office Building.
“Members of Congress like Rep. Fred Upton and Senator Jim Inhofe are either showing lots of love to Koch Industries and other corporate polluters, or a quick return on the oil billionaires’ dirty money,” said Kert Davies, Greenpeace Research Director. “Polluterharmony uses humor to highlight a serious problem; our environmental and clean air protections are under assault by polluting industries, their lobbyists and campaign contributions, and politicians.”
