The introduction of the Keep It in the Ground Act is the latest example of growing support to end the giveaway of publicly owned fossil fuels and keep oil, gas, and coal in the ground.

Washington, DC February 11, 2016 – In reaction to the introduction of the Keep It in the Ground Act in the House of Representatives, Greenpeace Climate & Energy Campaign Director Kelly Mitchell said:

“The Keep It in the Ground Act would stop the fossil fuel industry from profiting off of mining and drilling on public lands – profits they then use to attack policies like the Clean Power Plan, aimed at preventing the worst impacts of climate change in our communities. We welcome this step and encourage Congress and the Obama Administration to take decisive action to stop new leases for coal, oil and gas in all public lands. Fossil fuels have no role in our future.”
