In response to Rex Tillerson’s stated support of the Paris Climate Agreement, Greenpeace spokesperson Tim Donaghy said:

“The Paris Climate Agreement is not a magic treaty that will enforce itself. It requires real-world implementation through policies like the Clean Power Plan, fuel efficiency standards, reduced extraction of fossil fuels, and large-scale investments in renewable energy. Has anybody asked Rex Tillerson his thoughts on those? The fact is, Tillerson has given lip service to climate change and a carbon tax in the past but did nothing to change Exxon’s climate-polluting ways. Let’s not be naive. Rex Tillerson will put his industry first, even as Secretary of State.”
