International Task Force Confirms Need for Action on Global Warming Now

Global Clean Energy Commitment: Johannesburg Renewable Energy Coalition

In 2001, President Bush reneged his support of the international agreement, the Kyoto Protocol, to curb global warming pollution. Now the United States is, once again, isolating itself from joining an international coalition of over 80 countries called the "Johannesburg Renewable Energy Coalition." Find out more about the Coalition and how, if the United States took part, we could be a positive force to curb global warming and embrace clean energy.

U.S. Withdraws From Kyoto Protocol

Almost immediately after he declared his administration would not require industry to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, President Bush delivered another blow to the world's climate by refusing to support the global warming treaty known as the Kyoto Protocol.

That's My Planet You're Burning

"I'm going to The Hague to make sure my future and my children's future is not sacrificed by political cowardice and the desire to protect the fossil fuel industries that are damaging our climate." Carolyn Kousky, 20, Stanford University

Global Warnings

This year's hurricane season has dramatically shown the danger of a world with more extreme weather. Hurricanes Bonnie, Charley, Frances, Ivan and now Jeanne all making landfall in the Caribbean and/or United States. Take a visual tour of recent storm and flood destruction taking place around the world.

Kyoto Now

The Russian Parliament has approved the ratification of the Kyoto Protocol, bringing the global warming treaty into force and leaving the United States, the world's largest emitter of global warming pollution, in the dust. It's high time the Bush administration stop listening to Exxon-funded front groups and rejoin the Kyoto process. Find out more and view records, acquired through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), documenting six meetings in 2001 between the Bush Administration and key corporate interests discussing opposition to the Kyoto Protocol.

As Kyoto Takes Effect, CSU Demands Clean Energy

More than 50 students rallied for clean energy at San Jose State as the rest of the world began implementation of the Kyoto Protocol, the international treaty to stop global warming.
