International — Greenpeace questioned whether the Nuclear Regulatory Commissioner's briefing on Bin Laden included the terrorists' intent to stike at U.S. nuclear reactor, a fact the FBI was aware of since the mid 1990's.

Greenpeace also questioned why, even after being briefed for 45 minutes on Bin Laden, the NRC voted to turn nuclear power plant security into an unenforcable voluntary industry program.

NRC's letter was - at best - unresponsive to our questions.

The Commissioner failed to answer the most basic of questions: what the NRC knew about the terrorist threat to nuclear power plants and when and instead hid behind claims of national security as reasons for not answering the questions rasied by Greenpeace.

The information discovered by Greenpeace has been forwarded to those responsible for NRC oversight in the House and Senate.
