I know that global warming is affecting everyone on a daily basis...but I guess that’s obvious when you live in Florida.
Last year’s hurricane season was the most active ever recorded by
man. The devastation and loss throughout the state was
unimaginable to anyone that did not see it with their own eyes.
Believe it or not, some people still do not have their roofs fixed or
their homes rebuilt and - once again - we are faced with another year
of hurricanes.
Already this year there have been three major hurricanes: one that hit
the coast of Pensacola, Florida, another that hit Louisiana and Alabama
and the third that hit Texas. And hurricane season isn’t even
halfway over! It lasts from June 1 - November 30.
I know that hurricanes were around long before global warming, but the
frequency and severity we are now seeing is a direct result of climate
change. It is the perfect example of how millions of lives have
been affected by this problem. We, as a society, need to become
more aware of our surroundings and the Earth. After all, every
little bit helps.
